Posted 06-05-2008 at 04:05 PM by thewordlife101

I am having some problems with a friend's laptop. He wants to start using and learning some about linux. So we have been trying to get ubuntu to run on his laptop. However we continually run into the problem of the wlan card. It won't work so i have spent about 3 to 6 hours attempting to get it to work. I am having serious problems with this.

Aparently I will have to ndis wrapper in order to make my friend's wlan to work. The driver that is needed apparently is known as R174291.EXE....

If you see the following information, then continue on section 1.

nfs 0:off 1:off 2:off 3:on 4:on 5:on 6:off
nfslock 0:off 1:off 2:off 3:on 4:on 5:on 6:off

NIS Server/Clients on RedHat

Posted 06-03-2008 at 06:52 AM by sujit123

1. NIS Server Configuration

The NIS formly was called YP (short for Yellow Pages). We will configure the master NIS server first.

1.1 Set the NIS Domain Name
It can be done by using command domainname or ypdomainname. Redhat Linux saves the default NIS domain name in file /etc/sysconfig/network. You can to add the following line in this file

NISDOMAIN=your_domain_name

where your_domain_name is the NIS domain name used in your LAN....
