gnome is destroyed.How can I recovery it?

I have installed my audio driver.But it is not fixed.So i uninstall it that have destroyed my gnome.When i was going to login my gnome environment again,It happened:

localuser:root being added to access control list.
no profile for user "root" found
lauching asczm deamon with socket froatend.....
loading simple config module...
creating backend.....
gnome_session:error while loading shared libraries:libasound.so.z:can not open shared object...

This tutorial explains how you can set up a FreeRadius server with Wifi authentication and accounting in conjunction with mysql & web management with daloradius on Ubuntu 8.04. This howto should work for a newbie. Production deployment is also possible with minor tweaking. But as usual I do not guarantee anything & take no responsibilities if something goes wrong.

I just noticed, it's thanksgiving day in the US (I'm German). So this is something of an unintentional thanksgiving post.

Every now and then something turns up when using Linux which I am really grateful for, even though it is a small thing. Of course we're all thankful for the system as such, its security, the price it comes at, the freedom attached with it, the great software available for it and so on, but sometimes there are just small things which crop up, things you never thought...

A new Slackware users first impressions

I recently installed Slackware 12.1 on my machine and I would like to share my first impressions. Ill have to share my past experience with *nix a bit here.

Unix/Unix shell at work in a factory.
Fedora 4, 5, 7, 8
Ubuntu/Kubuntu 7.04 and on
Slax 4+ (popcorn is my favorite poket OS.), knoppix 4+, Live Ubuntu, Gentoo live.

The first task was making my machine dual bootable. I wanted to keep Slackware "invisible" to my wife. She supports me...

Opera, multi channel sound...

I prefer Opera and so I installed that with great ease. A simple unzip and one command and it was up and running. seems stable so far, and flash and java plugins worked without any settings tweaked.

Noticed when I ran Pokerstars and Amarok at the same time I was able to hear both programs, this is the first *nix desktop that I have had that could multiplex. This will be swell if I can get ventrilo running. That shouldn't be hard, wine just needs a little help. I haven tun much in...
