An Internal Battle Of Operating Systems...

Posted 04-24-2009 at 12:43 AM by himbamcky

I'll be the first to admit, that I an a Gentoo fangirl. Series of recent events though has me in a bind.

When I bought my new laptop back in August of 2008 for college, It had Vista and I totally wiped that shit clean and installed Ubuntu. Although I needed Windows for in class and DOS for labs, I knew that I just could not stand that eerie feeling of using Vista.

(By the way: I failed my DOS classes because I wanted to use Unix commands)

A few months...

BTW, you don't seem to have the DRI section in your xorg.conf as suggested by Amiga32

Things you can do using Linux, but impossible on Windows

Here is a compiled list from a LinuxQuestion posting (will be update accordingly):

6. Surf the internet, download files, pick up email without fear of the computer becoming infected with viruses, malware, etc. Linux - yes. Windows - it is possible to run as limited user which can limit malmare, but from my experience, it is difficult to use a Windows system as a limited user, and most people probably don't.

5. Ressurect old computer and use it as firewall, server, etc....

Politicians (No Linux in this)

Posted 04-22-2009 at 07:25 AM by Dubious Dave

If you expect something about Linux in this post skip this and read something else. This is a rant about politicians.

For the last 4 months I have read story after story about how bad the economy is and how corporations or banks have borked us. That may be true, but it takes two to tango and if the stupid, selfish politicians hadn't asked them to dance we wouldn't be in this mess. Look, business is about greed and making money. That's what makes it work so well. The governments...
