I have read how to reset root password. but i have no f 12 on my sylvania.

GRUB stands for GRand Unified Bootloader. It is a program stored on on your hard disk partition. When you start your computer the first thing it does is check all of your hardware, if everything is ok then this is called completing POST. The next step is to get Linux started and that is where GRUB comes in. It loads the Linux operating system and starts Linux.
