Well now that what used to be called Russia is mandated to use linux, will we go from an arms or space race to a linux race? Food for thought...
Anyway the Insignia Infocast 8 inch tablet was on sale for sixty seven dollars, I had to get it. I have not opened the box yet. Lots of other things to do. If the browser still works with it, it will be a possible replacement for the ipad and or ipad touch.
Got a 1g switch for xmas. Needed that. My brother gave me his old linksys wrt54g v8. Maybe I can do something with it.
Happy new year.

Neat! now if only you could rip that Chumby linux OS off and put android on there ;P... However, You would probably have to build extra drivers for that media card reader. Or you might not get it working at all.

Not really a fan of android so far. The main thing I want to use it for is to use it as a home automation controller. Anything else is a plus.

You can flash the WRT54G2 with DD-WRT. I'm pretty sure it will work for yours as well.

That country is still called Russia. It was the center of what used to be called the Soviet Union.
Have fun with DD-WRT if you decide to play with that. I saw another thread where someone had used that to make a wifi to wifi repeater. I thought that was pretty awesome.
Then there are competitors to DD-WRT that can also do some pretty special things on such a simple machine.

I run dd-wrt on my wrt54gl. The wrt54gv8 will not run openwrt or the like. It will run dd-wrt, so I am told but it also had hardware issues. Probably why my brother gave it to me. I may reflash it and use it on an intranet (not internet) as a access point for the home automation project.
