Spring is near!

Posted 03-08-2015 at 12:24 PM by onebuck

Hi,

Two weeks from today and it's officially spring!

In like lion and out like a lamb. So it seems we are going out as a lamb. Chance of the sixties next week. Starting to thaw here, mucky mess everywhere. On the farm this time of year was a lot of work getting fences mended and husbandry for the animals was a must in the spring. Shots for the horses along with worming. Hopefully the hay stack was high enough for the next 8 weeks. Since first cut wasn't until mid May. I do not have those worries any longer. Just need to get my lawn prepped for spring. Get the winter damages repaired around the outside of the house and lawn. Get ready for new plantings and get the lawn tractor prepped for spring work.

I need to get my new shop electrical feed installed once the ground thaws and not as muddy. Do not want to cut up the lawn area anymore than necessary. I only need a 100 feet of trench for the service from the power head at the house. I'll put in a branch from that feed since the rate/size is big enough to support the additional power load. I have budgeted to get this installed but being a older man it will require me to take things slower. I hope to get my grandson to aid me in the heavy work. Trim the trench and put the PVC and wire into it.

My wife has a long list of what she wants done. I will need things to dry out to allow that work to be done.

I still need to get work done in the shop. It has taken me a few weeks to recover from that long drive from Florida. Long days of driving takes a toll on me and it gets worse as I get older.

Blue skies and very sunny helps to git rid of the winter blues. Luckily the Florida stay interrupted the blues for those five weeks there. I am now watching the Cadillac Invitational at the Blue monster, Trump's revamped Doral. 3.5 Million for the do over. Looks beautiful and really tough. Personally, I do not like playing a course with that much sand & water. I did notice a diver went in the water to retrieve Rory McIlroy's 3 iron. I wonder if the iron is on Ebay yet?

LQ Slackware forum has been having a load of philosophical threads of late. To bad that some must drag Slackware through the muck. My favorite UNIX-like Gnu/Linux is Slackware. I strongly back PV in his endeavors as Slackware maintainer with the team and community support. Slackware is stable and provides a solid stable Gnu/Linux. Not to say things can't be improved in certain areas but I trust PV to make the right decisions for continued development of Slackware. Looking back I can see how Slackware has grown with each release.

It's been nearing the 60's in Washington State the past week or so. This time last year the Cascades were still under quite a few layers of snow...this year they are already clear, with a few patches of snow here and there on the peaks.
