Spring is near!

Posted 03-08-2015 at 11:24 AM by onebuck

Hi,

Two weeks from today and it's officially spring!

In like lion and out like a lamb. So it seems we are going out as a lamb. Chance of the sixties next week. Starting to thaw here, mucky mess everywhere. On the farm this time of year was a lot of work getting fences mended and husbandry for the animals was a must in the spring. Shots for the horses along with worming. Hopefully the hay stack was high enough for the next 8 weeks. Since first cut wasn't until mid May....

Fun in the Sun

Hi,

I've been away from LQ for a while!
Just got back from a beautiful vacation in Florida for the last five weeks to rejuvenate and recover from the cold here in the mid-west. We had to cut things short because of the pending ice storms & snow falls that were forecast. Driving in freezing rain & snow is not fun. We missed the storms and got home safely to a cold and snow covered trip. Road crews cleared a great path for us and mother nature accommodated us.

Old time Winter, at least that's what the weather analyst call it.

Hi,

We just got a 6 inch snowfall and things are bitterly cold therefore very dangerous for everyone. I now live in a small town and do not have to worry about clearing a long lane or access to my barn. That task(s) were a killer in itself.

Just paid a guy to clean my short driveway. Worth every dime to keep from having another heart attack.

I am going south for a while to warm these bones up and get some golf in. With low gas prices the trip will be cheaper...

Hi,

It's snowing and wet with wind. Overcast with no sunshine for the past few days. I like to walk at least twice daily since I no longer live on the farm. Hard work that I cannot due any longer because of my health. I walk to my iPod music to get a good cadence for cardiovascular workout for my heart. I could use my bicycle but the area is covered with snow & ice. In my younger days I delivered mourning & evening newspaper routes using my bike with riser bars along with...
