Things you can do using Linux, but impossible on Windows
Here is a compiled list from a LinuxQuestion posting (will be update accordingly):
6. Surf the internet, download files, pick up email without fear of the computer becoming infected with viruses, malware, etc. Linux - yes. Windows - it is possible to run as limited user which can limit malmare, but from my experience, it is difficult to use a Windows system as a limited user, and most people probably don't.
5. Ressurect old computer and use it as firewall, server, etc. Windows - an avid follower of forced obsolescence.
4. See everything going on: Linux - yes. Windows, Windows - you always need a little faith in MS that everything is running ok.
3. Manipulate/Improve Code: Linux - yes. Windows - most major applications are locked up.
2. Operating system with only command line interface: Linux - yes. Windows - no, although can boot in command line without gui
1. LiveCD: Linux - yes, and can probably do some pretty fancy things with only a ZIP disk. Windows - some claim possible, but not nearly as easy and doable...I'd consider impossible.
