  • duckduckgo - not needed, I configured my address bar (type about:config into the address bar, search for keyword.url and change it to the DDG URL based on your configuration)
  • https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...ar/?src=search - not really a search plugin itself, just better: right-click in any website in a search box and choose "Add to Search Bar..."
  • leo.org dictionary
  • merriam webster dictionary
  • dasoertliche.de german inverse phone number search
  • ssl

duckduckgo - search engine without tracking and search bubble

When I had a first look on it, I didn't like it. Now, one year later, I checked again - and now I really do:

http://duckduckgo.com is a really privacy oriented search engine. But under its very clear surface it also has other features:
  • unbiased search results, NOT depending on any profile that you got. See http://dontbubble.us/
  • privacy, duckduckgo.com doesn't save your data, nor does it turn it to the found website. See http://donttrack.us/
  • instant answers (like "define:TERM"

funambol: Sync contacts and calendar

  2. Install funambol:
    Code:
    chmod +x funambol-10.0.3-x64.bin
    sudo ./funambol-10.0.3-x64.bin
    • "yes" - accept license
    • "RETURN" - accept to install to /opt
    • "no" - Don't start the server yet

Automatically set file date from EXIF data

You can set the creation date of a picture or video as its access and modification time: If the creation date was saved in the exif data of some media, you can extract it with "exiftool -ee -CreateDate" and then "touch" the file with that time.

To do this automatically save the following script e.g. as /usr/local/bin/exiftool_set_create_date

Hugin - create panorama pictures

aptitude install hugin autopano-sift-c
autopano-sift-c is suggested, but only available from debian-multimedia.org, because patent pending in US.

1. Load images
  1. Rotate camera when making pictures
  2. Load images
  3. HFOV(v): 45 degrees (Nokia N95). General: ~50° (landscape photos), ~40° (portrait photos)
  4. Align
  5. Preview Window: Projection Rectilinear (or ? Panorama (Cylindrical))
  6. Preview Window: Autocrop
  7. Edit: Fine-tune all points
  8. Edit: Optimize
  9. Create Panorama
