First LQ Blog

I tried putting up a blog earlier, but for some reason it didn't work. So I'll try again, just because Linux makes me want to start typing. This isn't one of those technical blogs I've been seeing in the bloglist, it's just a rambling blog for the heck of it.
I came to college with nothing more than 27 hours of AP credits and a dream to work at RedHat as an intern. Ever since I started, I've been downloading a Linux distro just about every week. I decided that getting QEMU would be a good way for me to test linux distros without wrecking my hardware, and it was.
When I first booted up an iso file in QEMU, my hair was standing on end and my entire body went numb. That was the single most exhilarating moment of my life. I saw a working Linux distro within my wretched Windows Vista environment. I saw those beautiful words: gNewSense. Unfortunately, it was not to last, as it crashed. And so did Debian... and Fedora... and Slack... and just about everything else I tried to run. Virtual machines just aren't supported like they should be. But that's understandable. It's not Xenware... it's just QEMU.
I finally found a home in Xubuntu. It's lightweight, and it works, and that's always a plus. I've got it configured to the point where I can program C, C++, Python, use the ssh, and play Typespeed and Dunnet. That's comfortable for me. Plus, I seem to learn something new every day. I just recently learned about sudo su - and xorg.conf (thanks to LQ).
Plus, I've been on www.fsf.org and www.gnu.org every day as well. I've been reading political science papers, programming jokes, and the GNU song. I recently downloaded the Halloween documents. I can't wait to find time to read them. Regardless, Richard Stallman is now officially my hero.
Yeah, this is a dumb blog. It's the first official blog I've ever written. So I'm an overenthusiastic college kid with an affinity for Linux. Is that so wrong? Worst thing the world can do is delete it. A blog is (usually) a personal space for me to rant and rave like a moron, so that's what I'm doing.
LQ's been more fun than I deserve. I'm so happy I found this place. Thank you, Wikipedia.
