Can't even comprehend your feelings bro. I'd be lost myself. Here is hoping Yours and Her family will close you in and keep you sane.
I have a younger sister-in-law that would keep guard on me to keep me out of trouble.
    Besides my brother and kids.
Don't let thew silence overwhelm you.

Sad day bro. But sounds like she went easy. Sorry if I sound rough. It is the biker in me talking.
I am never good at this.

Thank you every one for your warm sentiments.
I find myself relying on Prayer more than I have in the recent past.

I intend to do some "Service" to help get some perspective.
Today, I found myself "smelling" her pillow and her bath robe.
I talk to the cat a lot about her.

It gets better I know, and only time can do that.

I took off to walk around the block. "20 steps" from the end of the driveway, I found a golf ball.
I moved that golf ball around the entire block with just my foot (and 1 penalty stroke).
The neighbors may be wondering about the 'hippy' and his golf ball.

I've hadn't had this much cardio since the early '90s, where all we had was "weight" and "wait",
If ya know what I mean

I hope this view from the other side cheers you up.

I have never had anyone. Because I am too ugly to get a woman, I have suffered a life of loneliness. You were blessed by fortune having had someone for twenty years. Although her passing is sad, my sincere condolences to you, hopefully you can find a little comfort knowing that you have been far more lucky than many others. The next beer I drink will go down after giving you and your late better half a toast. Hoping all the best for you in the future.

    Hi...

I don't seek to detract from Habitual's thread but I wanted to address your comments, if I may. I too, have been single all my life and I've only been on two "dates" in my life, if you could really call them that. I've been down the road of loneliness, too (although much of it was my own fault because of the anger and hatred that I was dealing with at that time,) so I know how you feel.

What I want you to know is that your life was not designed to be like that. No one's is. In the years since I received Jesus into my life, loneliness is no longer a reality in my life because His presence is always in and with me. Whatever's going on or whatever I feel during the day, He is there to turn to. And what I have is not reserved for just myself or a "select few," it's for anyone who receives Him and walks (obeys) with Him.

And just so you know, you're not too "ugly" to have a wife. I've seen many couples whom one or both spouses could have been considered that.

    Best wishes...

The focus of this blog entry should remain on Habitual, his current situation and his future. I only mentioned myself in hopes of giving him encouragement by letting him know how fortunate he has been, and therefore, has much to be positive about. Nothing personal ardvark, but I think it would be disrespectful to Habitual to turn the focus on me. (Again, nothing personal. It is just my way of looking at the world. And I also fear he might consider it disrespectful in his period of mourning.)

Have you bought a new bicycle yet Habitual?

My mom. Who as a kid grew up in a ww2 concentration camp.
Her method of staying sane, was and still is running.

Not in the jogging sense. Just staying busy all the time. Almost manic, but under control also. Along with a vodka drink before bed time. She has stuff in her mind that I can never comprehend or hold and stay sane.

I picked this technique up from her. Being her son. Hence my motorcycle, bicycle, dogs, cat, and computer collections.

I always have a distraction when the droll/bad thoughts kicks in. Kinda like your kick the golf ball around the block exercise.

Becoming tired is a great tool for grief and loneliness. Plus the effort helps in socializing and meeting new people that have similar interests.

Believe it or not. Me and my wife met and found each other through a city pool hall league that would schedule other teams in bars and meet up every weekend (saturday) to play. She a Xerox business exec. Me a scruffy biker. Go figure.

Just ideas I know on how to deal with these kinds of things. Take it or leave it. Still bumming out about your loss myself.

    Rock:
Thanks for checking in on me.
    No Bike, yet.
Fall is upon us here in Ohio, so I may have to go until Spring to pedal up.

Took the golf ball around the block again today. No penalty strokes.
I may have to get an orange one for the Winter, or delay that distraction during that season.
Off-Season is a great time to buy a "new" bike?
    Saw this and got encouraged.

    Peace.

My bike is an old bike, a Fuji Sports 10 which is slightly older than my oldest daughter. I got it from these folks. They (at least used to) restore and sell donated bicycles to help support their efforts.

Perhaps you could find a similar project in your area.

More to the point, I hope you are well. I lost my mother a couple of years ago, so I know.

    Habitual,

I've just run into this entry while looking up your list of helpful links to reference to someone.

My deepest condolences, 3/4 of a year later. I know that the sting is likely still there.

I feel glad for you, that you had someone who was your best friend for 20+ years. I can totally relate to the walk you took around the block and the golf ball. Small, insignificant things like that become captivating at times like that.

Unconsciously or consciously, your mind goes to this subject.

I've had exactly two sleepless nights in my life of 50+ years. They were accompanied by the deaths of two different people who were very close to me. The added explanation is that I sleep like the dead. I don't dream, I don't move, when I wake I'm in the exact same position from when I fell asleep. So however odd it sounds, for me to actually have the problem of sleeplessness, it is a big deal to my psyche.

Thanks for sharing, I'm not sure I'm the cut of person to do the same, but instead I keep it inside. Meanwhile I understand the sadness you've experienced.

I hope by this point you remember her in happiness.
