1.4 Entropy is Confused

The real problem is while entropy applies to any system where heat is transferred it cannot be defined in that way and this is what brings the meaning of entropy into the world of computation and this is the reason:

From Classical Thermodynamics the units of entropy are Joules/Kelvin
which is energy/temperature = E/T but temperature = energy/molecule = E/N
where N is the number of molecules. So we have..
Classical Entropy = E/T = E/E/N = N (just a number and the...

1.2 Entropy is Confused

I hope my last post demonstrated the unreliability of the Wikipedia on this subject.. more to come on that point.

If this blog inspires your interest in the subject and like most people here you are inclined to follow up with your own research, I encourage you to do so and confirm my conclusions.. I would only caution not to comment adversely unless actually you know what you are talking about.. Questions accepted anytime..

A fair test question would be "Can you...

1.1 Entropy is Confused

{I should say I am taking the trouble of doing this because some highly competent and ethical people have set this up to help people like me who need it in the complex area of computer system management}

Having said that I think it appropriate to begin with the term used so casually above; 'COMPLEXITY'.. associated closely with entropy but even less understood..

To quote the Wikipedia.."there is no absolute definition of "complexity"... there is no agreement...

1.0 Entropy is Confused

Posted 01-17-2018 at 08:38 PM by Gyroman (Computational Entropy)

Entropy is the most jumbled, misunderstood term in science and engineering. It affects everything we do and is the fundamental reason we need guru's in all areas of engineering and computing in particular to keep things working. Its not taught in school clearly or correctly at any level below about PhD. At that level it depends on how the supervisor views the world around him or her.

We only need use the Richard Feynman test to establish this..

"If you can't explain...

Computational Entropy

Hi.. I'm an old Dos/Windows 3.1/Fortran/Basic..
Fairly competent engineer.. who needs Linux and simplicity.!

Some may say those two words are not really compatible, but actually in use I have found Linux to work well. Not much better than my Widows XP but without the INTERNET MALWARE.. Python was nice but had a nasty surprise but I'll leave that for another time.. there is a deeper issue here.

You may be wondering what has 'entropy' to do with Linux and more...
