Reinstalled GRUB 2 to the MBR

I'm not sure what happened to make LinuxMint 8 stop working the way it did, but I finally got both installs working again by reinstalling GRUB 2.

Pretty scary stuff to just turn on the computer one morning and not have an OS.

Until developers of programs, such as Vuze and TeamSpeak, improve the ease of installing and updating their own programs, Linux will never rule the computing world or the hearts of its users.

Also, the cryptic, snide replies from smartasses who think they are helping people who are struggling with Linux needs to stop, too. I'm not talking about anyone here, but when I do a web search and read through some of those comments, I just have to shake my head. (I am glad to have a forum...

Linux Mint 8 just stopped working - it's toast, tot, won't even boot. It gets to the logo screen, which turns black, and then times out. The drive is OK.

Introduction

My name is Donald and I have been using Linux as much as possible for the last couple of years, mainly to find a replacement OS for my wife's Linux netbook and to educate myself. I don't really need Linux, but I have spent many years avoiding Windows, since the early '80s, although I have Windows-based computers, too.

A blog, eh? The average blog here has about two posts, so we'll see how well I maintain this.
