Having to resort to using XFCE and LXDE as KDE ( my favourite ) is a bit heavy for my no so new laptop, I still use kaffeine, kate and kwrite, this is normally fine but after installing mint14 XFCE and then the above trio of kde apps I found that kaffeine failed with "Cannot open the SQLite database" and both kate and kwrite would crash when I clicked on the open file button.

Running kaffeine from the cli gave a load of errors relating to permission errors in .kde folder....

Even though I love Linux I have these moments when I think, just as I get somewhere I'm back to the start.
Having got to grips with most of the things I want from my system I now have several scripts set up so I can do things like run rsync backups and the like....
I'm a distro hopper so I usually have 3 different distros on my laptop, ( currently ubuntu studio, debian testing kde and now mint 14 xfce ) suddenly my scripts run into an error because the external drive I use always mounted...

Each time I think I'm getting somewhere I try to do something new and realise how little I know!!!
Having found a cheap usb wifi dongle I thought it would be easy to connect my two laptops so I could just send files between the two without using a memory stick, guess again, obviously I'm missing the simplest of steps but plodding on. :-)

Just updated to mint13KDE and as with all previous updates since mint 10 huawei e160 dongle won't work. This is across the board on all distros I've tried in last couple of years. Tried allsorts of fixes but have now found sakis3g script, this works as long as I boot without dongle plugged in.
