Reply to an inconsiderate poster

Warning contains sarcasm.

Sorry, soppy, I think your post#2 does a terrible disservice to OP & the question. If you've kept your profile up to date, you're a Slacker & likely know nothing about MEPIS, its methods, & its goals. By jumping in w/ an ignorant, & therefore unhelpful, reply you knocked this thread off the 0-reply list prematurely.
originally in pink to offset sarcasm:
<rude_comment>What part of "LinuxQuestions.org > Forums > Linux Forums > Linux - Distributions > MEPIS >" didn't you understand? </rude_comment>
End of "originally in pink":

Not in MEPIS, not really -- last time I looked KDE is the only desktop in the repositories.

Then please stay out of the MEPIS sub-forum.

Spoken like a true Slacker. MEPIS is designed to be ultra easy for beginners, so not having to compile anything is the norm.

This page is accurate as of 2008-07-19 for building KDE stable 3.5.9
Thanks for the out of date link.

    Oh hey!!!
    How are you today?
I'm doing fairly well myself! Anyways...
You ARE free to use whatever desktop you'd like. That is why Linux is so awesome. But if your Distribution doesn't offer it, compile it from source! If you can't do that, well, tough. You're stuck.
The page I sent to the OP was definitely still relevant for KDE 3.5.10 (if you would've gone further down the page it says that *cough* ) which is what they asked for. And just because a distribution is suited for beginners, doesn't mean that power users can't use them or that people can't build packages for themselves. And yes, I am a Slacker, and I use Arch now (so am I an Archer?) but no matter what you do, no matter what distribution you use, no matter when you do it, building from source will ALWAYS provide the results needed of you do it right. You can go try it sometime. And as for being in the Mepis sub-forum, I wasn't purposely. It was in the Zero-Response section and GUESS WHAT!?!?!?!!?!?! My solution would've solved the problem.
As for the solution that was given, I did apologize to the OP in a post on that same forum stating that I didn't know that project existed. So why were you bashing me afterwards? Seems like a waste of space.

Anywho, Happy Linuxing! (Is that a word? I may trademark it...)
    soppy
