PCLinuxOS kernel troubles

I am not sure if many are reading this blog, however I still feel that if these posts would help anyone, then they are worthwhile.
I have been struggling for several weeks now with installing newest kernels on my PCLinuxOS install and not having my wireless network available. 4 separate installs of the newest kernel made available in updates gave me this result.
This morning, having done a search: 'PCLinuxOS forums', a link was shown to the PCLinuxOS monthly magazine.
An article title included 'Network Manager', so I downloaded the magazine (PDF) with the idea to read that article later,
Boy, am I happy that I did this!
This article gave me all of the info I needed concerning what was actually going on. This distro had decided to change to Network Manager - a multi distro network control app - from net_applet and wicd which previously handled network control. This article describes completely how to change over to Network Manager.
I am not going to cover all of the steps here - the article does it very well and so there is no real need for me to do this.
However, The issue is July 2021, the article is 'Network Manager: The low down on getting up to speed', and if you are having trouble with networks being available after a new kernel install on PCLinuxOS, then this article is for you. Check it out - you WILL be glad you did!

crajor: Just FYI. I usually read the blogs first after I log on to LQ. I pickup a lot of useful tidbits from the blogs, like commands I didn't even know existed. I haven't tried the PCLinuxOS distro, but do you happen to have the link handy to the mag article you mentioned? Or is it at the distro web site?
