WTF is wrong with my X200?

I had a thread about this in the Slackware forum ages ago. This Thinkpad X200 will happily run Slackware64 14.2 or current for a couple of months or so. Then it refuses to boot up fully, with any one of three errors at random. If it was only one error all the time, it would be easier to pin down the cause. I've done websearches on the errors - no luck.
To add to the confusion, it's run Kubuntu 20.04 (64-bit) for months now, with no problems.
It was bought refurbished, in very good condition. Maybe the previous owner had a bad experience with Slackware, committed suicide, and his disgruntled spirit haunts this machine?

Trying Slackware64-current on it again, see how it behaves this time. Fingers & everything else crossed. Nothing against Kubuntu, just prefer Slackware.Posted 01-11-2021 at 08:07 AM by brianL

Just a wild guess, but I remember having boot errors in Slackware with my X201, resulting in some random kernel stacktrace. Restarting sometimes made it boot. I first thought it was the RAM, but it turned out to be the "compact" option in lilo. Commenting out this line fixed the boot error for me.

Thanks for the reply. I haven't had the compact option set in lilo.conf. Anyway, so far it's behaving itself with current. Touch wood, fingers crossed, whatever else.
