Cat meme IRL?

Posted 04-07-2015 at 05:25 PM by rocket357

A few days ago my daughter called me at work. I could hear the panic in her voice as she said "Dad, it's not my fault!".

There are *many* things that run through a parent's mind in this situation. None of them are pleasant.

I tried to hide the panic *I* was feeling. "What happened?" I asked her. She said "Well, it's about Stewie!"

My wife's pure-white cat. Oh God. I'm thinking he got let outside (he's an indoor only cat) and got hit by a car or something.

"What about Stewie?" I said, still trying to hide the panic. At least, I thought, it isn't about her *brother*, right? That's pretty unfair of a thought, though, since Stewie is a big part of our family.

"Well, he broke his tail."

Oh good, the cat is *mostly* in one piece, I thought. I can handle this. I calmed down a bit and asked what happened. She explained that she didn't know, but she found him with blood running down his tail and a sharp point sticking out the side of his tail.

Panic started to rise again.

"Wait...what?!?"

She continued talking about her brother and how she wasn't certain if it was him or whatever, but she's certain it wasn't herself. I told her I'd be home ASAP and hung up.

The cat had indeed royally screwed up his tail, to the point it was dripping red everywhere and he had a sharp point sticking out the side of his tail.

Shortly after I got home, the bleeding had stopped. The cat seemed to be in good spirits, so I told the kids to leave him alone and my wife said if it started bleeding again or he seemed to be in pain, we'd take him to the vet immediately. He wasn't letting me look at his tail, but he seemed to be in good spirits and amazingly didn't appear to be in any pain at all!

A day or two later, my son brings me an odd pinkish "bone-spur" looking thing that he found on the floor. The cat had managed to chew the thing off.

I analyzed it carefully...and found out it wasn't blood...it was red wax. The cat had stuck his tail in a wax warmer (that happened to have red wax in it) and his hair had congealed to look like a sharp spike sticking off to the side. It was incredibly hard, to the point that it felt like a bone shard sticking out. The cat had since chewed the wax off of his tail, removing a patch of hair in a strip down the side of his tail and the fake bone.

You read that right...our cat waxed his tail.

Sometimes you just can't make this crap up.

I totally understand. All of it. I'm sorry for the panic and worry and very glad Stewie is ok.

Thanks, vmccord. My wife, in particular, was really worried about him. This cat "herds" everyone to bed around 8:00 PM or so (a funny sight to see, as you can imagine). He really is part of the family =)
