RE: Steam: Possible Linux Client in the future?

Few months back, I posted a blog post concerning Steam and Linux.

Now with the Closed Steam for Mac beta underway, people have noticed that in the same script that launches Steam in OSX has Linux entries.

This implies Valve is porting Steam to Linux.

To make things more interesting, there's references to linux steam client files on steampowered.com

If all this is true, than Linux has just gained big support from another big name game developer.

hopefully, Valve will either confirm or deny this very soon. As it seems the cat may already be out of the bag.

Of course these things I linked to could just be Valve's funny way of naming their server crap, but I would like to think positively about this.

But right now, we should treat these things with a grain of salt unless Valve comes out and says that we're getting native linux support for their source games.

Well, it looks like Valve removed the link that references a Linux client. So I removed the link from my post since it no longer works.
