Problems installing Linux 11

Since some time I am a bit reluctant to install Linux Open Suse. Last time I tried it with v11 trusting in the possibility to go back to Windows XP at least if it will not work. Result: the installation failed at a rather late point. I wanted to reboot. Also Windows was not possible anymore. Tried to uninstall, repair nothing worked. I had to format my C-Drive and reinstall everything new including the complicated activation of Windows XP.
I cannot afford to paralyze my PC if I want to try a new version of Linux Open Suse. So just sometimes I am playing around with the life DVD or Live CD but I don't dare to install it again.
Is there a secure way?

You can run it in a VM? Several virtualization products are available for free that run on XP, not the least of which is VMware Player.
I can't help you with dual-booting as I haven't done that in almost a decade; but I happily run openSUSE on my laptop & workstation and either Vista or XP in a virtual machine (VMware Workstation on openSUSE).Posted 12-16-2008 at 08:01 AM by whitemice
