a little unity?

So, here's the data from testing a few UNITY distros....

First, a reminder of how this testing algorithm works:

Hardware: 2 computers used in this study, both are "old", i.e. not contemporary devices, but still very functional.

One computer (C8) is five years old, and the other, (C4), ten years of age.
C4: DFI CA64-TC, PIII 1.13 GHz, 1.0 GB SDRAM, IDE hard drive. Benchmarks: 2.7 GIPS, 1.5 GFlops, 0.67 GB/sec;
C8: ASRock 775 Dual-880Pro, PIV D 3.2 GHz, 1.0 GB dual channel DDR-2 800MHz, SATA 150 hard drive; Benchmarks: 14 GIPS, 11.6 GFlops, 4.8 GB/sec;

Algorithm: I test the installation time, which I define as the TOTAL time needed to hear music upon clicking on ALL three of the icons representing the three different protocols for handling streaming audio. I also test the time needed for boot up, shut down, start browser, and play for each of the three formats tested:
mp3;
ogg;
aaC+
Here is the web site I access to listen to music:
http://www.listenlive.eu/classical.html

The four stations I most frequently listen to, and which I therefore include in this test, are:
VRT Radio Klara, Belgium: mp3;
Cro-D-dur Prague, Czech REpublic: OGG;
Latvijas Radio 3, Riga, Latvia, aaC+ (aka mp4a)
NRK Klassisc, Oslo, Norway, OGG;

There are another dozen stations I enjoy listening to, especially several from Holland and Germany, but I used only these four above, for testing.

Distributions tested include:
1. PCLinuxOS, LXDE, from July 2010, with two downloads, Konqplugins and VLC;
2. Unity 64 Open Box, July 2010, plus two downloads, Konqueror, and VLC;
3. Crunchbang 32 bit Statler FXCE, alpha 1, from April 2010,
4. Tiny Me, SLIM from September 2010, plus two downloads, VLC and Konqueror;
5. Crunchbang 64 bit FXCE Statler--alpha 2, June 2010;
6. Unity 32 GDM July 2010, plus two downloads, Konqueror, and VLC;
7. Mandriva 32, XFCE, from September 2010, plus two downloads, VLC and Konqueror.
