Autostart coldfusion on boot in Ubuntu

Posted 04-22-2010 at 12:10 PM by drask

My current job requires that I work with Coldfusion 9. I have it set up to run on an Ubuntu 9.10 desktop with apache2. Everything installs pretty well (there is one dependency of libstdc++5 that is no longer supported by Ubuntu and must be downloaded from another repository like http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/pool....6-18_i386.deb as detailed in http://www.howtoforge.com/installing...on-ubuntu-9.04) but the option to have Coldfusion startup when...

So sick, so tired

I am just so sick, and so tired of ignorance! Not sure if it's a false sense of entitlement, pure laziness or what. At first I thought it was only us Americans and our Walmart Mentality, but this seems to be a world wide epidemic!

Perhaps it's because I'm from another generation. We were not allowed to use calculators in math class. I took the SAT without one, and survived 400 level Calculus and Statical Analysis classes in college without one. There was no Google, or wikipedia for...

Irssi the irc client that rocks

Posted 06-26-2010 at 05:42 PM by craigevil (craigevil's random words of wisdom)
Updated 06-14-2021 at 10:41 PM by craigevil (fixed links/Added Libera)

Irssi is a terminal based IRC client for GNU/Linux systems.

Even the dpkg bot in #debian agrees irssi rocks:
<dpkg> i guess irssi is the best <IRC> client ever. "aptitude install irssi" and read http://www.irssi.org/documentation/startup . See also http://irssi.org/documentation/faq. http://www.irssi.org/

Lots of fun and useful irssi scripts/themes:

Viewing Images With Elinks

Posted 07-30-2010 at 01:33 PM by uxrs75

Programmes: elinks, fbida
Files to edit: ~/.elinks/elinks.conf

Start by installing a suitable image viewer. I use fbida, as it provides both a framebuffer-, and X-based image viewer (fbi and ida respectively).

Next, add some MIME types to elinks.conf.

Code:
set mime.extension.jpg="image/jpeg"
set mime.extension.jpeg="image/jpeg"
set mime.extension.png="image/png"
set mime.extension.gif="image/gif"
...
