Slackware-13.1-Hacks-Changing System Time

This will adjust your system time and correct it using a Stratum 2 Time Server. The quickest way to change your system time is to do the following:
$ su
$ <Root_Password>
# ntpdate pool.ntp.org
You should see confirmation that it worked. The second way of doing this (in case the first way did not work) is to get the IPV4 address or hostname of a Local (meaning in your time zone) Stratum 2 Time Server from the following website:
http://support.ntp.org/bin/view/Serv...TwoTimeServers
The US Time Servers are listed by Country and State (if applicable)
In this example, let's say I live in California (Pacific Standard Time Zone). Going down the ISO list, I look for a Time Server with OpenAccess for my area. I find one called:
ntp1.sf-bay.org
The command to update the time in one-shot is:
# ntpdate ntp1.sf-bay.org
You can also click on the name "ntp1.sf-bay.org" in the HostName column to see the Server List Entry information. Notice that the IP Address is 192.83.249.28 which can also be used with the ntpdate command like so:
# ntpdate 192.83.249.28
$ su
$ <Root_Password>
# ntpdate pool.ntp.org

Thanks. Mine was a few minutes slow. For anybody else in the UK, I used:
Code:ntpdate ntp.markyate.net
