install slack to lg x110 day 1

Posted 04-26-2015 at 10:15 PM by mrknify

Today I installed Slackware via an sd card. It did not go smoothly.

I used rufus usb key installer to put the 14.1 iso onto my sd card. Booted my LG x110 with the card, now my little netbook is my toy, I use it to install all manner of things before migrating them out. Previously I had installed two versions of Oz Unity on my netbook, they installed to duel boot with the netbooks Windows XP using grub. more recently I had been using Arch Linux via usb install to a SD card but that...

In the past, my method to measure peak memory usage was to boot a system, wait for it to become idle, run "free", run the program in question, then run "free" again. The difference is the memory usage. This method accounts for multi-process programs such as the LAMP stack, but it doesn't work as well for ephemeral command line utilities.

Today I ran across an easier way: Run the command line utility with /usr/bin/time -v. Example:

Code:
bash-4.2$ /usr/bin/time

Posted 04-25-2015 at 01:03 PM by rainbowsally

Need to build glade with -g3 flags? The Computer Mad Science Team does, and so today's marvelous adventure starts here. [Only needs 'make' and the original glade sources d/load to do it.]

Features:
  • An alternate build system generated with Computer Mad Science tools.

Our attempt to use the standard ./configure-make sources to get glade to compile with debug flags...
