Debugging C Programs Using GDB (Including core dumps!)

Posted Today at 03:32 PM by rtmistler

The added (including core dumps!) to my title is actually the main reason for me deciding to write this entry.

So very many times I see new programmers who write something, it compiles, so they run it, and then they are stumped because their programming resulted in a segment violation and possibly a core file. And now they're stuck, not knowing why this occurred and also having no real idea how to proceed.

PuppEX (Puppy Slacko64) Live DVD with kernel 4.3.0-x86_64-puppex

Posted Yesterday at 05:27 PM by exton (Exton's Blog)

PuppEX Slacko 64 bit is a remaster of Puppy Linux Slacko64 6.3.0, released on November 16, 2015. Kernel 4.3.0-x86_64-puppex is used. Kernel 4.3 is the latest available stable kernel from as of 151130. PuppEX uses the original Puppy Slacko64 Desktop. I have added PCManFM and LXTerminal. They are more useful than ROX-Filer respectively RXVT, I think. The ISO file is on the whole 766 MB, which is due to me including also NVIDIA Graphics driver 352.63, Gimp, Vlc Media Player 2.2.1 installed...

Now even shinier!
It's a rude and crude script, but it works for experienced admins who knows what they are doing,
and where they are doing it.

We have 60 Wordpress sites to roll-out and I dislike tedious crap, so I scripted it.

Download files from a list while (re)naming them at the same time

"wget -i" is perhaps the tool of choice to download files from a list, but it doesn't allow you to set custom file names for the individual files on the list file. So, if you want to download a bunch of podcast episodes, but would want each file to have a descriptive file name rather than "12345.mp3", it won't help you.

A simple alternative is to have a download list with the file URLS followed by the "-O" flag and desired file name, and read this file...
