How to get Corel Linux working in a VM on Slackware64

Posted 06-17-2021 at 05:51 AM by rkelsen

It was removed from the market shortly after Microsoft became a minority 'non-voting' shareholder in the company. I'm not saying that the two incidents are connected at all, but the timing is somewhat coincidental...

The major differences between Corel Linux and other distributions available at the time, were that Corel Linux was clearly a product influenced by a corporate...

HP-2133: Ubuntu 18.04 LTS Upgrade Failed; Xubuntu 18.04 Clean Install Succeeded

Updated 06-14-2021 at 08:15 PM by flshope (correct typos)

I have a 2008 HP-2133 laptop machine running 32-bit Ubuntu 16.04. The machine has been running satisfactorily for several years, the only chronic glitch being a loss of speaker sound sometime after the 16.04 installation. Also, Unity no longer ran and I have been running Xfce. I have delayed upgrading to 18.04 because I have always had difficulties with OS upgrades as support for my hardware dwindled. How to get StarCraft (1998 version) working on Slackware64

Posted 06-14-2021 at 02:03 AM by rkelsen

Step 5. Umount & eject the CDROM
Step 6. Obtain the v1.16.1 (last official)...

The only reason I use Wine is gaming. Everything else has long since been surpassed by better quality software which runs natively under Linux.

I don't like the fuss of having to download & install multi-lib packages for this. It adds a ton of libraries and packages, and is quite an involved process. Thankfully, under Slackware, we can use the packages and scripts created by Alien Bob... but the process is still somewhat drawn out and complicated. I'm a simple guy. I shun...
