New Blog -- Entropy Pump

Posted Today at 03:19 PM by ttk (Unpopular Positions: One Geek's Take)

I've started a new blog, Entropy Pump, hosted on my own colo server.

I'm not sure yet what the division of labor is going to be between Entropy Pump and this LinuxQuestions blog. The current notion is to make the LQ blog mostly about software (and Linux in particular) and Entropy Pump about everything else.

If that pans out, I will update the description of the LQ blog accordingly.

Possible workaround for dumb installs of multiple-versions of GIMP

Somehow I managed to install the debian stock GIMP 2.8 and compile the git 2.9. I had the impression that at some point they were both working, but after some upgrade of one and/or another, 2.8 was complaining about an improper version of libgimp.

That would probably have been prevented by doing things right, which may have included creating a debian package for 2.9, among other things. Perhaps the most important "other thing" would have been paying more attention with the...

News 170621 about AndEX 7.1.2
Yesterday I said that AndEX 7.1.2 couldn’t run in VirtualBox and VMware. Actually it can! It just takes about 10 min for the Desktop to show up when running AndEX live. (I mean directly from the ISO file). Watch this screenshot – VirtualBox and this screenshot – VMware. Just give AndEX enough RAM. I gave AndEX 3GB. You can (of course) also install AndEX to a virtual hard drive in VirtualBox and VMware.

Slackware-14.2-Unbound-1.6.3-Dnssec-Dnscrypt-Part-1

Posted 06-17-2017 at 06:57 PM by arniekat

INTRODUCTION

Source - ArchLinux Wiki and linoxide.com and Unbound Website

DNSCrypt-Proxy is a tool for securing communications between a client and a DNS resolver. By default dnscrypt-proxy is configured to use OpenDNS' servers.

DNSSEC allows a zone...
