NEWS 170627 about Calamares Installer
I’ve finally managed to make Calamares (The universal installer framework) work without problems/issues. Yesterdays version of ArchEX has therefore been replaced today. Now you can use Calamares to install ArchEX in any language. The boot loader Grub2 (which can be installed during the installation of ArchEX) will also work without problems. Watch a slideshow showing the installation process.

I've started a new blog, Entropy Pump, hosted on my own colo server.

I'm not sure yet what the division of labor is going to be between Entropy Pump and this LinuxQuestions blog. The current notion is to make the LQ blog mostly about software (and Linux in particular) and Entropy Pump about everything else.

If that pans out, I will update the description of the LQ blog accordingly.

Somehow I managed to install the debian stock GIMP 2.8 and compile the git 2.9. I had the impression that at some point they were both working, but after some upgrade of one and/or another, 2.8 was complaining about an improper version of libgimp.

That would probably have been prevented by doing things right, which may have included creating a debian package for 2.9, among other things. Perhaps the most important "other thing" would have been paying more attention with the...
