Installing Slackware 12.2 On An Old Dell Laptop - Part VII

I guess this is an end to this blog.

In the end I gave up on Slackware 12.2 and downloaded and installed Slackware 13. It works and has got the network.

I really don't know what was happening with 12.2 and I'm disappointed to have had to give up, but I have a lot of studying to do and can't spare the time to work at making the laptop work.

What I miss is learning how that interface stuff works at a fundamental level because I would like to understand...

The attachment is my personal blow-by-blow log of installing mrxvt 0.5.4 on Slackware 13.0 with Xfce 4.4. It includes some useful links and details of configuring:
  • Xfce panel launcher.
  • Xfce menu entry.
  • Initial window size.

I've compiled KMyMoney2 on Slackware 13.0 (32-bit) using feedbacks from these 2 threads in which it was reported that KMyMoney2 was successfully compiled on 64-bit but not on 32-bit:

/usr/local/lib or /usr/local/lib64

When I saw the announcement on Slackware.com that Slackware64-current had gone public, I had to try it. (I've been running Slackware as my primary OS--both desktop and server--for years.)

I downloaded the kernels, isolinux, and the slackware64 (packages) directories and begin reading.
