Note: Raspberry Pi OS now has the current release version in the Bookworm repos.

There are several ways to get a newer version of Firefox.

First, there is Ubuntuzilla, which works for i386/amd64 but not arm32/arm64. Since I am on RPIOS I am just posting the link to it.

Use the Tor Browser, or a VPN preferably a paid one.
You can also use a browser like Librewolf that is a bit more hardened than Firefox or Chrome.

If you are really worried about privacy there are a few things you can do including:
Use the Adblock Plus extension for Firefox and use the
Easy Privacy list as well as the Antisocial list.
This list blocks the ever increasing social networking content...

This is all I do to use Firefox rather than Iceweasel.
1) download Firefox
2) extract to my /home/Downloads
3) symlink plugins by doing:
Code:
ln -s /usr/lib/iceweasel/plugins /home/craig/Downloads/firefox/plugins
