Newer Firefox on Debian

Posted 10-24-2021 at 11:51 AM by craigevil (craigevil's random words of wisdom)

OK take a deep breath, now let it out. This post uses Ubuntu repos on RPIOS/Twister/Debian so do NOT freak out.

First, there is Ubuntuzilla, which works for i386/amd64 but not arm32/arm64. Since I am on RPIOS I am just posting the link to it.
https://sourceforge.net/p/ubuntuzill.../#installation

For those like myself that are using a Raspberry PI the following will keep Firefox current on your system.

Here are the steps: https://github.com/ryanfortner/pi-ba...ain/Firefox.md...

Security and Privacy on the Internet

Posted 08-12-2010 at 03:31 AM by craigevil (craigevil's random words of wisdom)
Updated 04-24-2021 at 09:07 PM by craigevil (Most of the advice is outdated.)

This post like all of my posts are several years out of date.
Use the Tor Browser, or a VPN preferably a paid one.
You can also use a browser like Librewolf that is a bit more hardened than Firefox or Chrome.

If you are really worried about privacy there are a few things you can do including:
Use the Adblock Plus extension for Firefox and use the
Easy Privacy list as well as the Antisocial list.
This list blocks the ever increasing social networking content...

1) download Firefox
2) extract to my /home/Downloads
3) symlink plugins by doing:
Code:
ln -s /usr/lib/iceweasel/plugins /home/craig/Downloads/firefox/plugins
4) open iceweasel with iceweasel -profilemanager and...
