Newer Firefox on Debian

OK take a deep breath, now let it out. This post uses Ubuntu repos on RPIOS/Twister/Debian so do NOT freak out.

First, there is Ubuntuzilla, which works for i386/amd64 but not arm32/arm64. Since I am on RPIOS I am just posting the link to it.

For those like myself that are using a Raspberry PI the following will keep Firefox current on your system.

Steps for Oracle Java 6

Version 1.6.x (a.k.a Java 6 Update x)
NOTE: Java 6 is scheduled to die (End of Life or EOL) in November 2012
As of April 27, 2012 the latest version of Java 6 is 1.6.0_32

Security and Privacy on the Internet

This post like all of my posts are several years out of date.
Use the Tor Browser, or a VPN preferably a paid one.
You can also use a browser like Librewolf that is a bit more hardened than Firefox or Chrome.

If you are really worried about privacy there are a few things you can do including:
Use the Adblock Plus extension for Firefox and use the
Easy Privacy list as well as the Antisocial list.
This list blocks the ever increasing social networking content...

Firefox has been back in Debian for a while.

No Real Reason to follow this guide, it is way past outdated

This is all I do to use Firefox rather than Iceweasel.
1) download Firefox
2) extract to my /home/Downloads
3) symlink plugins by doing:
ln -s /usr/lib/iceweasel/plugins /home/craig/Downloads/firefox/plugins
4) open iceweasel with iceweasel -profilemanager and...
