Normies are gonna norm and there is nothing you can do. They have no clue and trying to get them to switch is like trying to teach a pigeon to play chess: it won't work and you and the pigeon will both be annoyed ... and they'll probably be a mess as well.
On the positive side, "sorry, can't help you. I don't know Windows," gets you out of being family tech support.

Wow...I hadn't thought of it like that before, but I'll never forget the feeling I had when I booted up into RedHat after my first install. It was like having someone turn the light up brighter in a dark room...I wasn't aware it was dark before, but suddenly I am VERY aware. Good point.
As for family, all you can do is respect their choices and ask for the same in return.
