Just annotations of little "how to's", so I know I can find how to do something I've already done when I need to do it again, in case I don't remember anymore, which is not unlikely. Hopefully they can be useful to others, but I can't guarantee that it will work, or that it won't even make things worse.
Mozilla seems to work okay with Chrome's flash player
I'm not really a fan of flash, but since I'm trying to switch from Chrome to Iceweasel, which seems to be less sluggish in my machine, and I don't like the idea of using a plugin from the late 90s when I have to, I decided to try the wrap-around trick/plugin I've found. It seems to be working normally, as fas as I can tell.

It had a few more dependencies than stated in the how-to, but the make/configure output would give informative messages. Something like "ragel" and "libss-dev", if I recall.
Only tested so far in a lightweight online chess game, and on a heavier pool game. Both worked, but the pool game really made the CPU fan spin like crazy, felt like the thing was going to tumble. But I guess it would be just like that in Chrome as well.
Adobe's official flash test page just says "you have flash version X.XX" (but with whatever actual numbers), rather than some weird output.
Just to be sure I moved the original flashplugin.so (the old/abandoned version) to another folder than the one it's originally installed.

edit: coincidentally or not, two or three times, iceweasel suddenly and for no apparent reason started to use lots of CPU, something like 50% or more, according to "ksysguard". I don't think I was using anything with flash at those instances, but I'll try to keep the plugin deactivated, just in case.
