Old time Winter, at least that's what the weather analyst call it.

Hi,

We just got a 6 inch snowfall and things are bitterly cold therefore very dangerous for everyone. I now live in a small town and do not have to worry about clearing a long lane or access to my barn. That task(s) were a killer in itself.

Just paid a guy to clean my short driveway. Worth every dime to keep from having another heart attack.

I am going south for a while to warm these bones up and get some golf in. With low gas prices the trip will be cheaper than the last time. Locally we are under $2.00/gal, cheapest since 2008. Now I read that the democrats want to tax us for this gift that private industry has given to the USA. Obama has been saying the oil production is lowest since he took office. Well he nor the congress had anything to do with that, oil producers, private enterprise have increased oil production thus showing OPEC can take their oil and put it where the sun don't shine.

I would say, Eat it! We not going to give away our grain any longer for such low prices. If you want a bushel of corn then you will provide at least the amount Americans need in oil as we specify. Not Arabian nor OPEC can produce the grain in a desert environment. Make them pay as they have done to the American farmer. Let them choke on their oil! OPEC is now trying to effect the market. Democrats are now wanting a share of the $550 USA that average American citizens will save from the lower gas prices. I think there will be a fixed road tax levy based on the type of vehicle the consumer is using to get about. New type of transportation vehicles with better MPG or Hybrids, Electric vehicle that will not be paying a fuel tax need to be figured in to allow their continue use of infrastructure should pay a flat use tax/levy.

Look what Obama's 'cash for clunkers did to the market' and the national debt. I know individuals who could not afford a new vehicle getting one with a trade-in value of $2500 and a guaranteed loan at a fixed rate. Some could not even pay back the low interest loans. Obama claims this saved the Auto makers. Destroyed the used vehicle market for people who did not qualify for a new vehicle in the 'clunker program' so they had no means to purchase a over valued used vehicle.

USA national debt is now over 18 trillion, still increasing more each day!
My debt load from the USA clock shows $56,485. I could buy a nice place in Florida with some of that. Real estate there is still a good investment. Florida banks have millions of dollars of foreclosed properties to choose from.

Crazy, irresponsible Congress with a community organizer president who does not know how to manage nor negotiate anything. MY way or the highway! Obama's pen will solve everything. I live in Illinois and Chicago is already planning for the Presidential Obama Library. Illinois' debt is too large now, we cannot fix our roadways or afford to maintain Illinois Property. Everybody is applauding ObamaCare while my Insurance cost have inflated because of the ACA for everyone.

We can secure sections with war zones but we cannot secure our borders. To me that's upside down. I say, Let people of the land decide actions without our billions of dollar aid. Hamid Karzai has been laughing all the way to the bank with the millions he has stole from the USA.

I have said enough, must be cabin fever.

Well, it's still cold outside(-15 wind chill)!

Out here in the oil boom fraking section of West Texas.
Bringing in the dogs tonight before it snows here tomorrow.

I still own a 63 Ford F100. No rust bucket like you Northerners have to deal with because of the salt. We be high desert country here.

Probably spent more time outside than most folks today.

    Happy Trailz, Rok

I no longer refer to our government as such, but as just another corporation. That's how it seems now, anyway.

You guys are crazy for living like that. Seattle is much nicer, at a near-constant low-to-mid 40's through the "winter" (with brief snow breaks from time to time) and in the 70's - 80's during the summer.

Seriously, I did my time in New Orleans (98 degrees with 100% humidity), Florida (same), 29 Palms, CA (quite a bit lower humidity, but 120+ degrees during the summer), Utah in the mountains (I don't know how cold it was, I doubt there are numbers low enough for it), and Idaho/Oregon in the mountains (felt even colder than Utah). I want to live without crazy weather from here on out haha.

Some days I look out over the stark beauty that is a Kansas winter landscape and think, "wtf, how did I end here?"

At one time I couldn't believe the sheer distance one could see across the state of Kansas.

Then sometime later I took a drive down I-84W in Oregon, and hit the lookout point just before Pendleton. I swear you can see Japan from there.

Edit - I grew up in the swamps of south Louisiana (i.e. 60 miles south of New Orleans) and later in my childhood in the woods of northeast Texas, so (to this day) being able to see more than 50 feet amazes me.

DeSoto is almost, but not quite, a suburb of Kansas City these days.

I had the opposite experience. When I moved to Connecticut after living in South Dakota I was freaked because I couldn't see enough of the sky.
