Eyerobot's Personal Blog

Posted 03-05-2009 at 03:47 AM by eyerobot

Well I'm a retired painter, And computer, And electronics hobbyist since around 1972.

My first computers were punch card systems at the local college. but the first computer i owned was an old timex sinclair 1000 (new at the time).

It wasnt longer than ten minutes before i was hooked, Just seeing my first line of code activate on a black and white tv screen was like magic to me.

Later I was able to use a cassette recorder to save my programs, and i was in heaven.
By the time the trs80 color computers came out, I was creating duplicates of well known arcade games in assembler, and making a decent amount of money from it as well.

Somewhere during all the excitement, I got myself a floppy drive. Then i was happy all over again.
Needless to say I didnt hesitate to get a harddrive when they became affordable.

These days I have a room full of computers, with many different operating systems on them.

I also enjoy creating electronic gadgets, You never know what kind of strange things i'll build.
At the moment im preparing to convert my house to solar power, But money dictates the speed I work with that.

Im also working on an electric car im building from scratch, and spare metal I have lying around.
With any luck, Ill get enough solar panels on it to supplement the batteries, And get a few more miles out of it.

Since I dont have to work anymore, I have lots of time to tinker on things, Or just sit around playing games.
Ive heard a lot of guys that say they just cant retire, because their so used to working every day.
Well i dont have that problem, I totally enjoy not having to go to work every day. And I dont miss it at all.

I guess thats enough for an opening blog.

Thanks for stopping by.
