I don't follow what you're saying is better about the hijack install. As far as I know, the only meaningful benefit to the hijack install is ease of installation, at the cost of extra work removing the hijack stratum in the future. It's worth noting the plans for the upcoming release include an effort to remove the downside of hijack installs, i.e. to make it easier to remove the hijack stratum immediately after installation if desired. This involves some changes to the rootfs/global specifics. I hope this doesn't bite whatever your perceived advantage of the current release's hijack install method.
