Remastered Arch ISO will boot halfway and then drop to ramfs shell

I currently have been doing a lot of work trying to get Arch Linux so that it will pick up wireless networks via my adapter (by remastering the Live CD to include GNOME (including applets) and Firefox). However, when testing the ISO, I have run into a bottleneck:

When the kernel on the ISO tries to look for a boot device, it first of all is unresponsive when searching and secondly times out after 30 seconds and drops to a ramfs shell. What?! All this work for nothing? Excuse me, but what the hell did I do wrong? Is it that Arch's kernel configuration does not support booting from USB or something? (This computer does not have a built-in optical drive, so I have to boot from USB no matter what).
