Question about adding grub2 background . . .

File:
Quote:

/etc/default/grub
Quote:

# If you change this file, run 'update-grub' afterwards to update
# /boot/grub/grub.cfg.

GRUB_DEFAULT=0
GRUB_TIMEOUT=5
GRUB_DISTRIBUTOR="Arch Linux"
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet"
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX=""

# Uncomment to enable Hidden Menu, and optionally hide the timeout count
#GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT=5
#GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT_QUIET=true

# Uncomment to disable graphical terminal
#GRUB_TERMINAL=console

# The resolution used on graphical terminal
# note that you can use only modes which your graphic card supports via VBE
# you can see them in real GRUB with the command `vbeinfo'
#GRUB_GFXMODE=1024x768x24

# Uncomment to allow the kernel use the same resolution used by grub
#GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX=keep

# Uncomment if you want GRUB to pass to the Linux kernel the old parameter
# format "root=/dev/xxx" instead of "root=/dev/disk/by-uuid/xxx"
#GRUB_DISABLE_LINUX_UUID=true

# Uncomment to disable generation of recovery mode menu entries
#GRUB_DISABLE_LINUX_RECOVERY="true"

# Uncomment and set to the desired menu colors. Used by normal and wallpaper
# modes only. Entries specified as foreground/background.
GRUB_COLOR_NORMAL="light-blue/black"
GRUB_COLOR_HIGHLIGHT="light-cyan/blue"

# Uncomment one of them for the gfx desired, a image background or a gfxtheme
#GRUB_BACKGROUND="/path/to/wallpaper"
#GRUB_THEME="/path/to/gfxtheme"

# Uncomment to get a beep at GRUB start
#GRUB_INIT_TUNE="480 440 1"
Confused which file to comment and uncomment :scratch:

Here's my question... :Pengy::Pengy::Pengy:

Do I need to comment the default uncommented lines?:
Quote:

GRUB_DEFAULT=0
GRUB_TIMEOUT=5
GRUB_DISTRIBUTOR="Arch Linux"
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet"
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX=""
And uncomment this with edited path to the file image for background:

Quote:

GRUB_GFXMODE=1024x768x32
GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX=keep
GRUB_BACKGROUND="/boot/grub/path/to/linuxBG/right?.png"
#GRUB_THEME="/path/to/gfxtheme/And/What/is/this?"

Ang last step run:
Quote:

grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg
to enable it...

I am not sure but the first thing to do when in doubt is to copy /etc/default/grub file to the same directory (do not forget to rename) and if something does not go right you will have a backup copy to replace the original file.

I am not sure if this is distribution specific, but in Debian you have to specify your background image for grub in /etc/grub.d/05_debian_theme, I think it is the same for other distributions, but maybe you have to exchange the debian in the filename with your distributions name.
