Nvidia, Arch Driver vs proprietary...

Hi Forum

Long time no see

I have an Arch box with Nvidia proprietary driver installed...

I wish to know if it is possible to uninstall this thing and install the Arch package for Nvidia...

Thing is that I have multilib enabled, installed the 32bit compatibility from Nvidia proprietary driver, but wanting to run a 32bit wind0ze app in wine, ( after having installed the 32bit Nvidia-utils ), it complains about a mismatch in library versions...

So, how do I uninstall the proprietary Driver and configure my Gforge 9600M GT to run with Arch Drivers....?

The driver mismatch may be caused by differing Nvidia drivers - that is, if you need for example the 173 series, then you need to ensure that the multilib one is also the 173 series one.
If you just use 'nvidia' normally, check the versions of it, and the multilib one - it may be that a change hasn't been ported to the multilib one yet.

This can be fixed because I have a frozen repo image which contains both arch version versions of the same driver... 64 and 32 bits

I just need to know how can I uninstall the proprietary one... because if I fail to do so, I may get my mobo in a complete mess... by trying to install the packages with pacman...

to uninstall the current nvidia driver for your Gforge 9600M GT card
is
-- boot into TEXT run level 3 ---
login as root

Code:

/* cd "/to where you put the *.run"
 i put it in / */
cd /
sh ./NVIDIA-Linux-x86-256.44.run -uninstall

then reboot

pacman -S nvidia nvidia-utils
