How do i run an ArchBuild ( AUR )...?

Hi

Sorry for speaking Slackware'ese in an Arch Forum

I have a running Arch system, and I want to create packages from AUR,

There's this package called spooles.

It is a library for solution of sparse linear systems of equations using several mehods...

Anyway, I downloaded the spooles.tar.gz from AUR as well as the source tar.

I untared the http://aur.archlinux.org/packages/sp...spooles.tar.gz, and copied the http://netlib.sandia.gov/linalg/spooles/spooles.2.2.tgz ( pretty much like I would do in a Slackbuild ).

Changed permissions of the PKGBUILD to run and ran the script... nothing happened...

... ok, i know, i know, this is not Slackware, so how does one do it... ? create the installable package...?

Hi

So I run makepkg with the source tarball in the PKGBUILD folder as user, but this happens :

Quote:
[alex@iskandhar spooles]$ makepkg
==> Making package: spooles 2.2-2 x86_64 (Thu Feb 25 22:41:54 WET 2010)
==> Checking Runtime Dependencies...
==> Checking Buildtime Dependencies...
==> Retrieving Sources...
-> Found spooles.2.2.tgz in build dir
-> Found Make.inc in build dir
==> Validating source files with md5sums...
spooles.2.2.tgz ... FAILED
Make.inc ... Passed
==> ERROR: One or more files did not pass the validity check!
[alex@iskandhar spooles]$
Wassup here...?

Err...it built for me.. :P

You don't need to download the source tarball manually. PKGBUILD will do that for you. Just download the AUR tarball. Extract it, cd into it then run:

Code:
makepkg -s PKGBUILD
All the cool kids..err..Archers are using packer these days!
It's very fast and easy to install AUR packages using packer. Packer is in AUR, install it and then you can just use: packer -S aurpackagename [just like you use pacman for installing packages in official repos!] When new versions are out, packer will notify you and you can update your AUR packages by using packer -Su

Btw, the validity error implies md5sum mismtach. To generate new md5sum, make sure the source is downloaded and then run
Code:
makepkg -g >> PKGBUILD
