firefox unable to load any webpage in Openbox despite ping and links working in CLI

I recently installed firefox and I am unable to load any webpage. I am using Openbox as a standalone WM. I am connected through ethernet. ping comes back with all packets sent. I am able to browse the web in xterm using links. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The problem is fixed. I went into the configuation page for my DSL modem and put the two dns servers into the /etc/resolv.conf.head file. Firefox is able to load urls now.
