Failed to retrieve gtk3 and mesa during install

Hello all,

Hope you're all well and safe.

Could someone please shed some light on this issue?

I'm working on installing arch.

I have installed reflector and got the fastest mirrors.

2 packages are failing to retrieve with 404 errors:

gtk3 and mesa

Earlier during the install, other packages showed the same error but were downloaded from other mirrors.

gtk3 and mesa fail all the time.

I don't know where to look for package issues with 404.

Solved

Solution was to add -Syu to the pacman command.

I have an arch install cheat sheet and didn't use it the first time around. Everything had gone well so didn't think anything of it.

I've updated my cheat sheet to reflect the command change.

You don't have to use pacman -Syu to install everything. Once you have brought your machine up to date, you can install packages with pacman -S package for as long as you want. That will install packages from the same pacman database. So everything will match.

Arch is a rolling release, some things update more often then others. You may be able to install some packages that don't change often, as long as a month after you have updated. Some packages update twice a week. If you run pacman -S package it won't hurt anything. Either the package version is still on the mirror or it isn't. If not, then you'll need to bring everything up to date again.
