@jwtear: yes, it does work - I tried it myself and I could register.
Code:
$ date -u +%V$(uname) | sha256sum | sed 's/\W//g' |
entering "date -u +%V`uname`|sha256sum|sed 's/\W//g'" (without double-quotes obviously) in my konsole generated a sting like others have said, but when I copied and pasted into captcha form box at archlinux, it was accepted and I now have an account at ArchLinux...
Perhaps the 'answer' string that is generated in console is different based on your flavor of Linux? I'm running openSuSE 12.2... fyi, i was me, a user in console... i was going to use su (root), but tried as me first and again, it worked. Landis. |
Can't register neither...
Why must they choose such a retarded captcha? Installation of the crap arch distro fails and I can't even ask for help! Such idiots!

Installed arch. Trying to install nvidia proprietary drivers, so no X, no clipboard/copy-paste from the terminal. Using elinks to get help... Am I supposed to type over this whole string while switching between two consoles ? As a not-newbie I simply refused to do that, but that didn't mean I spend 1H+ trying to register !! So, it's a creative captcha, but I tend to believe there's better alternatives... |
i love this thread.
it shows exactly the reasons WHY they installed this extra hurdle. |
