Accessing system and mysql
 
Scenario:
A system running on "Arch Linux 0.7 wombat vesuvius" and containing a VERY important MYSQL database in it. Old programmer left and i (a newbie) have to access this system and its database. Isn't there any GUI i can work with??. Everything is in command line, i dont know how to start. i have the username and password for linux though.

If there is an existing database, you can do it with the command line easily. The MySQL website has some excellent references. If you need a GUI approach, install PHPMyAdmin. I don't whether you can install it in a system with existing database, but if you're going to install MySQL afresh there are serveral programs(www.apachefriends.org) which come loaded with PHP, MySQL, etc.
