wicd wifi autoconnect
i installed antix onto a memory card about a month ago and managed to get it so that wicd would autoconnect to my wifi on every start up (had to google a bit to find out how)- BUT have just reinstalled the whole lot due to effing up the filesystem and can't find the same nugget of info that helped me before.
i believe it is antix 17. (?) connect automatically is ticked in the network manager. i'm sure there was a really simple solution to this but i can't for the life of me remember what it was! and have searched and searched and can't find where i got the solution last time. thanks |
I know nothing about this distro or using wicd, but it might pay to check the pertinent wicd config files to check that the wireless connection is indeed automatic.
From the man pages (man wicd)... Quote:

The log may be a good source of information about why a wireless connection is failing to start automatically. |
thanks for your help.
i've actually managed to fix it- started paying attention to all the writing that shows on the screen during shutdown, warning to look at /etc/default/wicd and the start by default was #'d. and START_DAEMON=no removed # and put yes and seems to have worked. https://imgur.com/a/eafprEk https://imgur.com/gallery/eafprEk :) ps in case a newb like me finds this; open geany via terminal: gksudo geany |
Good to read of your success here. Always pays to (re)check the config files.
