root password


I've tried to install numerous times but at the end it won't accept my root password...I've tried several different passwords to no avail....Can't leave it blank because it won't accept it....

Welcome to the forums Larry!

Your profile says you are using Ubuntu Linux. Is that correct?

There is no "root password" in Ubuntu. It does not exist, and Ubuntu should never ask you for it.

You should log in with the username and password that you specified during the install. This is the only password you need to use Ubuntu. (Unless you share the computer with multiple people.)

I assume that you are installing MX and that you are referring to page where you enter your default user as well as the password for the root account. See the link below.

The installer is not accepting the password but does it display a specific error message like password not long enough, does not match, too simple etc?

we have one other report of this but no information.

could you try again, but start the installer from a terminal and post the output? it would potentially be very helpful.
