No usb connection with smartphone
I changed the OS of my notebook from LMDE 4 to Antix 19. But now, I don t have usb connection with smartphone, which appeared like an usb stick in the former OS. Any suggestions how to fix that?

You need something like a MTP Android File Transfer package installed . Probably when you have that installed Android phone should be recognized and as you say become something similar to a usb .
Antix is Debian based so you can try something from a terminal like : sudo apt-get update sudo apt-cache pkgnames MTP that should come up with some possibilities after which it will just be a case of installing |
What filemanager is this?
Anyhoo, you probably need to 'apt install gvfs-backends'. |
I followed your suggestions, but I can t establish a usb connection with my smartphone as before. I am using nemo as filemanger. What can I do more?

General info for mtp devices.
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php...nsfer_Protocol I've been using this for years. Simple and reliable as it gets. I don't care that it's not up to date. https://github.com/phatina/simple-mtpfs/ |
You can also use the Android app Airdroid for file transfer and a number of other functions.
No Airdroid account is required to use it locally. I've used it a number of years with good results. |

What exactly happens in your file manager window when you plug that phone in? What exactly happens on your phone (it should ask you how you want to connect)? Additionally, do this:

I did the following steps
Code:
sudo apt-cache pkgnames MTP Code:
sudo apt-get install gvfs-backends Code:
$ dmesg -w what else can I do? |
You might need to execute dmesg with sudo: 'sudo dmesg -w' etc.

Code:
[10302.964095] usb 1-1: new full-speed USB device number 14 using uhci_hcd |
so your phones a motorola ?
I had a quick look at live Antix 19.2 64 bit looks like you can't use apt cache, instead : sudo apt update sudo apt search mtp-tools also I found android-tools I have previously got access to Android phones via adb bridge while producing an .apk file from a python -> buildozer ->android although a bit involved it should be interesting to see what others come up with. Also i guess you want to connect to retrieve files another approach just might be use bluetooth via Antix and pair with phone |

following up on @teckk suggestion on Antix 19.2
$sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-cache pkgnames gmtp gmtp $ sudo apt-get install gmtp Reading package lists... Done gMTP was then found in menu connected and gained access to my vodafone so @saturn1955 i guess gMTP is a keeper ? |

Maybe there's something there for you. Quote:

I ve completely overseen, that in the menue exists the function - android device usb connect -. Clicking this entry, the smartphone appears in the filemanager like an usb stick or external hd. That was all.
The gnome phone manger and some other progs don t work for me, because the notebook lacks of bluetooth. Thanks a lot for your help. |
