Jitsi 2.10.5550 fails with ALSA error. anyone have Jitsi running on MX17?

Since Pidgin voice support is still broken I'd like to get Jitsi working.

https://community.jitsi.org/t/jitsi-...sa-error/14128

running MX17 64bit

Code:
java -version
openjdk version "1.8.0_171"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_171-8u171-b11-1~deb9u1-b11)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.171-b11, mixed mode)

On your linked page I see the feedback: "This probably reflects a bug in the program." So some questions:

1) Are you sure you downloaded the Debian package, not the Ubuntu one?
2) Does it work on other Debian Stable distros that are not Ubuntu-based?
3) If it works in Ubu/Mint, then you should make a package request on the Forum so the packagers can take a look

A1. I used what Jitsi suggested
https://desktop.jitsi.org/Main/DebianRepository
they only have one package deb/ubu

A2. have not tried it on other non-U machines

A3. thanks, I'll try the nightly builds of Jitsi

Try the correct one for your architecture from this page:

https://download.jitsi.org/jitsi/debian/

when Ubu/Mint gets involved, weird things can start to happen for us.
