Errors while using rox filer to dump home directory to usb

I was helping a friend to dump her home directory using rox filer, which creates a separate window to list the files going across. Towards the end of the dump, she drew my attention to a reddish flickering in this window. The files involved were tiny so they were moving very fast, but it looked to me as if each file was being displayed both in black and in red. At the end, rox reported over 1000 errors!

The files in question were all in ~/.cache/mozilla so I don't believe any of them was of long-term importance, but I am still curious to know what might have caused the errors. I'm not very familiar with rox.

I don't think we could have run out of space because there was only 4.8 GB to copy altogether and the memory stick was bigger than that (16 GB afair).

Permissions/ownership?
I just looked in my own ~/.cache/mozilla/firefox/ but I don't see anything problematic... unless you tried the copying as another user?

edit: It's just cache, you shouldn't have copied it at all.

We did a general copy of the home directory and all that stuff came over automatically. I agree it's not worth copying but you can't pick and choose what gets copied out of a directory unless you do it on the command line. That's why I'm not particularly fazed by the errors. I'm just curious about what caused them.

My friend was logged in as herself when we did the copy and that was her home directory. She's currently the only registered user of that machine although I have the root password for it.

df -h showed that the copy was the full 4.8GB in size so, although there were lots of errors, they obviously didn't amount to much space.

OK.
To clarify: I did see some fluctuations in permissions in my own ~/.cache/mozilla/firefox/ which might account for what you saw, if you also have them.
I have no idea what flickering red/black means in rox, or what sort of errors it reported.

I'm pretty certain it was printing out the names of the error-causing files in red. That's what it looked like. Presumably each of these lines was accompanied by an informative error message. But it all scrolled up much too quickly to be read.

I just wondered if anyone here knew enough about rox to tell me what kind of errors would be likely in this kind of operation.
