I wish to dual boot antix with Windows 98se I know that I have to defrag windows first and disable the pager file and I know I have to shrink the Windows partition and I have make a new partition to install Antix to. However I've not installed Antix before and I'm only used to installing of the likes of Linux Mint which have a very easy and straightforward install menu. I wondered if there is an easy to follow install guide somewhere?
Distribution: Mainly Devuan, antiX, & Void, with Tiny Core, Fatdog, & BSD thrown in.

Rep:
If you read the instructions when installing AntiX, & make sure the grub boot loader is installed to the mbr, it will add your Windows partition to it, & you should be up & running very soon.
Okay well it's an old laptop already with Windows 98se installed. I use to run legacy software. It's a Pentium m 1ghz processor and 1gb of ram 20gb hard drive. Version of Antix is 17.4 32 bit.

Reason: Because I want to make it more understandable.
Can it boot from USB?
Have you tried to boot AntiX live?
Have you made all the preparations to your Win98 already?
Yes it can boot from USB and I have tried Antix live but have not yet made the preparation for Win98. I'm just nervous about doing anything in case I mess up my Windows 98 installation. I 'm thinking of trying it first on Virtualbox first. I don't have any data to loose as that's backed up but my Windows 98 isn't. If someone could recommend free backup software that would do a disk image of my hard drive so I can restore windows easily I would be grateful. That's if there is one or a inexpensive one. (I've done a search and found several free programs for making a disk image). Not sure they support Windows 98.

Been a while since I played with my IBM T23 or 390E
You got no sse2 support according to my old inxi reports on P3 Pentium M cpus.
So browser and youtube surfing will take some newly aquired skills from you.
videos are my go to for reminders when I forget stuff.
Speaking of forgot stuff; I usually had to run a chk disk in Windows before booting up using the f8 key or something .
If I did not let windows run the file check after shrinking in gparted or another booted live session partition editor. Windows would not boot. Just error out.
I used a PLOP cd to boot usb on that old stuff For Floppy . I made a PLOP floppy disc also. Google and youtube will tell you what PLOP is. Booting on usb 1.1 can be like watching paint dry though. You gotta be patient.
