add-apt-repository doesn't seem to work in mx terminal
This is annoying since I get bugs that repos would fix. Shutter keeps updating when it shouldn't but I can't add the repo for the version that it is claimed has fixed that.

Are these PPAs that you're trying to add? If so, those are a Ubuntu (and derived distro) thing, and MX, which is not based on Ubuntu, advises against using them.

Yeah, looks like I'm in the Forbidden Zone. But that still doesn't help me stop Shutter from Constantly downloading updates on every launch. It's a bug I fixed once in Mint but can't seem to fix in MX.

Perhaps the MX Linux developers may be amenable to adding a package of the latest version to the community repos if you flag it to their attention.

You can download any version of Shutter (including the current/latest) from here: http://shutter-project.org/wp-conten...releases/tars/

shutter solution
I appear to have the latest version. Since that's pretty old and there are no other bugs my solution was to simply remove the update program. Shutter works fines and I don't need updates.
So I deleted the vgyme.pm program from /usr/share/shutter/resources/system/upload_plugins/upload/ (after backing it up just in case, of course). For some reason it now won't shutdown when run from the terminal unless I pkill it, but it closes fine from the GUI. |
